Diesel engine 1249

Diesel engine 1249 (1226/26) of unique design is intended for replacement of 16-cylinder engines (diesel-generator 1-9) whose service life has expired in locomotives 232 operated on German railways.

Modifications of this diesel engine can be widely used for renovation of old locomotives and construction of new locomotives rated 1470-2500 kW.

Engine design allows to retain the main locomotive parameters (power, design speed and tangential traction force) using the same electric equipment (generator, starter, exciting device). Diesel engine 1249 is equipped with electronic speed and power governor, self-cleaning fine oil filter, thermal controllers in the oil system and has two-phase fuel delivery system etc.

The latest design solutions implemented in the diesel engine 1249 provided:

Examples of application

64 diesel engines 1249 have been supplied for modernization of locomotives 232 operated on German railways.

Environmental compatibility

Technical solutions implemented in the diesel engine 1249 allowed to provide compliance with the requirements of UIC for harmful emissions, sound pressure and smoke.
